Mentoring
PWEN Mentorship and Counseling Programs
PWEN'S Mentoring/Coaching Program is designed to empower Pastors' and Ministers' Wives to discover their God ordained destiny and/or fulfill that destiny; thereby walking in every call on their life! "Doing it All without Losing it All!"
Proverbs
27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
Mentoring
The word Mentor is defined as a wise and trusted counselor or teacher; someone who teaches or gives help and advice to another person; a trusted counselor or guide; tutor; coach.
Although
"Mentoring" doesn't appear in the Bible, the scriptures do give us several
examples of mentoring and mentors:
-Jethro mentored Moses
-Moses mentored Joshua
-Eli mentored Samuel
-Samuel mentored Saul and David
-Elijah mentored Elisha
-Naomi mentored Ruth
-Priscilla and Aquila mentored
Apollos
-Paul mentored Titus and Timothy
-Elizabeth mentored Mary
-Jesus mentored the 12 Apostles
Titus
2:3-5 says, "The aged women likewise, that
they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to
much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be
sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste,
keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be
not blasphemed.
Our Mentoring program is here to 'Pour into your
your life.'
Coaching
Coaching is defined as a training or development
process by which an individual is supported while achieving a specific personal
or professional goal. Coaching is a Biblical
approach to empowering others. It's
having a partner whose only interest is your success. It's not telling someone
what to do but helping them discover for themselves what God is calling them to
do.
Ecclesiastes 4:9,10,12 (TNLT) says, "Two people are better off
than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But
someone who falls alone is in real trouble. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but
two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a
triple-braided cord is not easily broken."
There are many examples of coaching in the
scripture, but Jesus is the greatest example. The way Jesus related to people
is to see how a coach should function. For example, Jesus often answered a
question with a question. Recognizing that person knew the answer himself or
could figure it out. He challenged people to do what they knew was the right
thing to do, rather than telling them what they should do.
Our Goal, with the help of the Holy Ghost, is to
help you succeed and 'Pull out what's already in you'!
